An Elegant Façade

Lady Georgina Hawthorne has worked tirelessly to seal her place as the Incomparable for her debut season. At her first London ball, she hopes to snag the attention of an earl.
With money and business connections, but without impeccable bloodlines, Colin McCrae is invited everywhere but accepted nowhere. When he first encounters the fashionable Lady Georgina, he’s irritated by his attraction to a woman who concerns herself only with status and appearance.
What Colin doesn’t know is that Georgina’s desperate social aspirations are driven by the shameful secret she harbors. Association with Colin McCrae is not part of Georgina’s plan, but as their paths continue to cross, they both must decide if the realization of their dreams is worth the sacrifices they must make.

An Elegant Facade

After reading my review of An Uncommon Courtship, you may be expecting a bad review on this book. I am going to do the opposite. I really liked this book. I can’t say it beats A Noble Masquerade, but it is in second place. So, from least favorite to favorite in this series (so far): An Uncommon Courtship, An Elegant Façade, and finally A Noble Masquerade.

Anyway, back to the book at hand. Because I loved A Noble Masquerade and its characters so much, it was really hard to like Georgiana because of how she wanted to marry the Duke—or, well, one of them. Well, luckily, anybody who knows what happens in A Noble Masquerade knows how that turns out. Besides that, I really liked the entire story. All of the characters were amazing and intriguing!

The only downfall about Colin was that I pictured him way differently than what he was really supposed to look like. I did my best to try to change my image of him, but it was really hard. I literally had to force myself to create a “new Colin.”

This is also a really great cover. I really like it that you can’t see Georgiana’s/the woman’s entire face. It gives the book a mysterious atmosphere right from the beginning! So, I am going to give it five stars!

Kristi Ann Hunter has done a wonderful job with all of her books. I am very excited to read the next book An Inconvenient Beauty about Griffith.

So, I am obviously giving this book 5 stars! I recommend it to anyone who enjoys a good regency romance!
