My 2017 Reading Resolutions

So, I may not be someone who does all the “New Year Resolutions” stuff, but It Starts with a Book and I have decided to do 60 reading resolutions. So that means that our goal is to read at least sixty books over the course of 2017. It may seem like a LOT of books, but just take a deep breath. You can totally do it with me and It Starts with a Book. You have 365 days to read 60 books! You got this!

So here are our resolutions:

  1. Read a book where the author is from your home state.
  2. Read a book where the main character has the same eye color as you.
  3. Read a classic.
  4. Read a historical fiction.
  5. Read a graphic novel.
  6. Read a book that you read when you were a child.
  7. Read a book with a red cover.
  8. Read a book where the main character is a child.
  9. Read a bestseller.
  10. Read a book set in a different country.
  11. Read a mystery.
  12. Read an award-winning book.
  13. Read a book that has been on the “to read” list for a very long time.
  14. Read a book that your favorite author recommends.
  15. Read a teen book.
  16. Read a book from the inspirational section.
  17. Read a book recommended by a friend or blogger.
  18. Read a non-fiction book that is not in the Dewey 900s.
  19. Read a biography.
  20. Read a youth picture book.
  21. Read a youth fiction book.
  22. Read a youth non-fiction book
  23. Read a play or script.
  24. Read a holiday book.
  25. Read a book where the main character is a boy.
  26. Read a book that has been made into a movie.
  27. Read a book set in a war era.
  28. Read a book published in 2017.
  29. Read a book that has a title that makes you go, “Hmm”.
  30. Read a book that is over 400 pages.
  31. Read a book set in the future.
  32. Read about with a horse in it.
  33. Read a book that has an animal on the cover.
  34. Read a series/trilogy.
  35. Read a book from a genre that you typically do not read.
  36. Read a book that was originally written in a different language.
  37. Read a book you chose because of the cover.
  38. Reread your favorite book.
  39. Read a fantasy
  40. Read a book that was published before you were born.
  41. Read a book that has been banned before.
  42. Read a book that you own but never read.
  43. Read a short story or a novella.

  55. Read a book that has a cover with your favorite color.

  57. Read a debut novel.
  58. Read a book that is less than 200 pages.
  59. Read a fairy-tale retelling.
  60. Read a book that you think would become a great movie.

 

Reading Resolution Rules

  1. One book for each goal.
  2. Book has to be read in the year 2017.
  3. Don’t skim–read!

    How fun! I really want to read more this year, too, though I may not have quite as ambitious resolutions. 😉 Have you read any yet? Will you be updating with what book you read for each category?

      Well, you can do as many or as little of the resolutions. They are just ideas (like writing prompts but for reading). I have started a book already, yes, though I have not finished it. And yes, I will be updating my list with the title of the book and the link to my review. 🙂
